Pre-Christmas Concrete Pouring

The bulk of the major projects still underway at BELLA are on the exterior of the project. Now that the heavy construction on the building has been completed, and the scaffolding has been removed, it is time to begin finishing off the site. The month of December proved to be quite rainy (not a big surprise to those of us on the West Coast) which ended up pushing the main concrete pour date back until a few days before Christmas.
The good news is that we received a reprieve from the wet weather and were able to complete the parking area at the back of the building, along with some of the front sidewalk, planters and other structural work required for the landscaping. Post-holidays the team is back at work and has been taking advantage of the dry weather to get caught up on many of the remaining exterior projects. The sales team will be onsite again this weekend and the show suite will be available for viewing on Saturday & Sunday from 12-5pm.
The holiday sales season has been a very busy one – surpassing our expectations, and we look to be approaching a sell out early in 2010. If you have your eye on a specific unit, or are looking for a new condominium in the Burnaby area, come on down and take a peek. The value cannot be beat, and there are still a few deals remaining. A Building Emerges

The day we have been waiting for has arrived – the scaffolding on the front of the building has been removed, marking the beginning of the final phase of construction on the project. For those the have been watching the project, this is the first time that you truly get a glimpse of the final product, and we are proud to say that it looks amazing.
From this point, the crew’s job is to get down to the details. Inside the building carpet is being installed, and the common areas are being cleaned & finished up. The majority of the homes are virtually complete now, and the elevator is almost ready for public use. Over the next couple weeks you will see the landscaping begin to develop out front, and we will be planting the trees along the Edmonds side. Railings and other details will also be installed soon, and then the big clean begins!
Sales are proceeding briskly, and we are now over 60% sold and climbing. The sales center and show suite will be open this weekend, so if you have been planning on taking a look at BELLA, now is your chance to get a glimpse of the final product. We are still on schedule for completion this month, and there are still some view units available. Busy busy times at the BELLA show center over the last couple weeks! A big thank you goes out to our sales team from Sutton West Coast who have been working diligently, writing offers and bringing us over the 50% sold mark. They have done a fantastic job of bringing in buyers and showing them that there is more to life than a tiny condo! There is nothing more exciting than seeing a purchaser find the home of their dreams, for less than they were planning to spend. Brand New Library

The brand new Tommy Douglas Library is located at 7311 Kingsway just a few blocks away from the BELLA Development and had their “soft” Grand Opening on November 17th, 2009. According to Kitty the senior clerk at the new establishment they had to keep the doors locked leading up to the opening, as local residents were so eager to use their new resource, they just couldn’t wait until it’s open. Well the wait is over! There are over 87,000 books, CD’s, DVD’s, magazines available to viewed in-house and on loan at the new brand new facility. In addition, there approximately 20 computers available for use in the new computer lab, and another 12 internet stations posted around the library all with WIFI. Beginner classes in computer usage are going to be available on a set schedule, and in addition VCC will conducting a variety of ESL classes in the computer labs for new residents to Canada.
The new Tommy Douglas Library is just another excellent example of the changes happening in the Edmonds/Highgate area. Local residents are very excited with all the infrastructure, and new businesses being attracted to the high growth area.

Brick work and Commercial

The masons have been hard at work installing the brick on the front of the building, one of the last steps before we see the commercial units begin to take shape. Once the scaffolding comes down, then work will begin on the front to begin finishing off the area, and preparing for the new sidewalk, trees and landscaping. Finishing, Finishes and Fixtures

Time for flooring, finishing and fixtures at BELLA. In the latest video, Gary gives us the interior progress report on the construction so far. With the show suite complete, the crew has turned their attention to finishing off the rest of the units, floor by floor. Checking Up on the Granite

Those who have been following our blogs have probably been wondering where we have been lately! We are busy, busy, busy preparing to open our new fourth floor show suite, which will be the first opportunity for potential buyers to get a good look at the quality finished product at BELLA.
The kitchen cabinet & vanity installation has now been completed for all 33 units, which means it is time to check up on the progress of our granite. Unlike many developers, we prefer to have our granite fabricated locally, which results in a much tighter quality control standard, and ensures a complete, quality fit in each unit upon final installation. The folks at J&D Stoneworks have been doing a fantastic job, and have re-measured every single unit before the final granite preparation begins to ensure that everything is perfect.
