BBQ Season

With BBQ season fast approaching we thought we would share some video and photos of the MASSIVE decks on the second floor at BELLA in Burnaby. Well maybe BBQ season isn’t that close, but we ARE getting very close to finishing the building, and thought we would take some shots on a nice sunny January afternoon. Can you imagine having 400 square feet of private outdoor space for entertaining? These decks are amazing, and the use of the cedar truly compliments the building’s design.

A quick update from the construction team is that we are on track to have occupancy permits in February, which means that our buyers will be moving in to their brand new homes very soon! Pouring A Curb…

Just thought we would share this photo of the cement crew hard at work. January has been a wet month, so the crews were happy to take advantage of some sun to pour the concrete curbs on Edmonds St. in front of the building. From this angle you can also see the glass awnings that were recently installed over the retail units on the ground floor. Things are coming together quickly, and the next major step will be having the power turned on for the entire building. The House Of Wings

As the construction begins to wrap up at the BELLA site, we thought that we would take a moment and introduce you to one of our favorite haunts in the community. The House of Wings is one of the many specialty restaurant within walking distance of BELLA. Located at #145 7155 Kingsway, this unique restaurant literally obliterates the traditional “wings and beer” so popular with Lower Mainland hockey fans.

This restaurant newly opened in May of 2009 offers comfortable large tables to fit those massive platters of wings that are quickly becoming an Edmonds Street and Highgate favourite. The menu features 26 different types of chicken wings from around the world including some really original flavours unseen anywhere else such as: zesty orange, coconut, Chipotle, Jalapeno, and Jamaican jerk just to name a few. For those keeping a close on eye on their pennies there are 37 cent wing specials everyday from 2 to 5pm and all day on Sunday, combined with drink specials everyday.

The House of Wings offers an excellent affordable way to socialize with friends and family. Open from 11am to 11pm on Sunday to Thursday and 11am to midnight on Friday and Saturday this new take on a classic has been creating quite a buzz with locals.

The house of wings is just one example of the many unique local businesses that make up the Edmonds Street neighborhood. In the area for wings on a Saturday or Sunday? It has been a crazy week at Bella. For those who have been following our progress lately, they know that we have been working many long hours pulling together suite 404 as we prepare to welcome all of the area Realtors to the project. Thanks goes out to everyone who helped out with the project over the last few weeks, it has been a fantastic show of support from the Bella team from top to bottom. We think the results speak for themselves, here are some “sneak a peek” images from the soon-to-be unveiled show suite on the top floor at Bella.

Pre-Christmas Concrete Pouring

The bulk of the major projects still underway at BELLA are on the exterior of the project. Now that the heavy construction on the building has been completed, and the scaffolding has been removed, it is time to begin finishing off the site. The month of December proved to be quite rainy (not a big surprise to those of us on the West Coast) which ended up pushing the main concrete pour date back until a few days before Christmas.

The good news is that we received a reprieve from the wet weather and were able to complete the parking area at the back of the building, along with some of the front sidewalk, planters and other structural work required for the landscaping. Post-holidays the team is back at work and has been taking advantage of the dry weather to get caught up on many of the remaining exterior projects. The sales team will be onsite again this weekend and the show suite will be available for viewing on Saturday & Sunday from 12-5pm.

The holiday sales season has been a very busy one – surpassing our expectations, and we look to be approaching a sell out early in 2010. If you have your eye on a specific unit, or are looking for a new condominium in the Burnaby area, come on down and take a peek. The value cannot be beat, and there are still a few deals remaining. The show suite and sales center will be closed over Christmas, but will reopen Saturday January 2nd and Sunday January 3rd. We look forward to seeing you then!

A Building Emerges

The day we have been waiting for has arrived – the scaffolding on the front of the building has been removed, marking the beginning of the final phase of construction on the project. For those the have been watching the project, this is the first time that you truly get a glimpse of the final product, and we are proud to say that it looks amazing.

From this point, the crew’s job is to get down to the details. Inside the building carpet is being installed, and the common areas are being cleaned & finished up. The majority of the homes are virtually complete now, and the elevator is almost ready for public use. Over the next couple weeks you will see the landscaping begin to develop out front, and we will be planting the trees along the Edmonds side. Railings and other details will also be installed soon, and then the big clean begins!

Sales are proceeding briskly, and we are now over 60% sold and climbing. The sales center and show suite will be open this weekend, so if you have been planning on taking a look at BELLA, now is your chance to get a glimpse of the final product. We are still on schedule for completion this month, and there are still some view units available. Busy busy times at the BELLA show center over the last couple weeks! A big thank you goes out to our sales team from Sutton West Coast who have been working diligently, writing offers and bringing us over the 50% sold mark. They have done a fantastic job of bringing in buyers and showing them that there is more to life than a tiny condo!
