Drywall has begun at Bella, and the fourth floor is beginning to take shape. We are using drywall that is 5/8″ thick throughout the building, and expect the process to take approximately 2 weeks per floor to complete. With the drywall going up you are really starting to see how dramatic the super-high ceilings on the fourth floor really are, and how bright the finished units will be. Want to take a peek? This past week we poured the cement topping on the 3rd and 4th floor. If you’re wondering, the 2nd floor does not require this as it already sits on a solid concrete slab. The topping is 1 ½ inch thick and provides additional sound proofing between floors. Our Site Super, Gary, gives us a full explanation.

With the cement topping completed, we are now installing the drywall at a pace of 2 weeks per floor. As each level gets completed, the units are measured up and the kitchen cabinets are manufactured. The first coats of paint will also be applied during this phase.

On another note, the BELLA team will be hosting a BBQ fundraiser for 2 participants in the upcoming Walk to End Breast Cancer. Rebecca Bourque and Cory Permack have committed to raise $2,000 each in order to participate in the 60km walk and we are going to do anything we can to support them.
